Designed and produced Nvidia. The new 2080 ti combines the latest ray tracing technology with enhanced graphics, raw power, efficiency, artificial intelligence and speed.
Whereas, the 2080 super, generally offers a smooth gaming experience and presents an introduction to ray – tracing technology, all for a sweet price. I have tested both GPU’s using assassin’s creed odyssey, and many other gaming titles.
2080 super vs 2080 ti design
The 2080 super has a sleek and shiny case – made from aluminium.
As you can see the backplate shields the rear components, if the card is attached correctly, heat energy gets dissipated into the PC’s case, regulating the temperature.
On both of the GPU’s include some cool RGB effects that can be configured using the software, more information is provided on the Nvidia website.

The 2080 super has a dual fan setup, pushing that heat out efficiently – it hasn’t trickled over 77 degrees.
On the side, the card has an HDMI port, USB C port, 3 display port connectors, as well as a virtual link connector for VR simulations.
Also, it has 1.4 and 1.4a connectors so it is 4K ready. Whenever that decides to appear on the scene.
The 2080 ti, has an aluminium case with the same design as the 2080 super, and the dual fan setup.
The changes are minimal, in terms of design. But, the colour scheme has changed.
And the 2080 ti in has a more shaded area in the middle.
However, one difference is, the card reaches around 80 degrees even when idle.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti has 11GB of GDDR6 VRAM, 4,352 CUDA cores and a boost clock of 1,635MHz.
In comparison, the RTX 1080 super has 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM, 3,072 CUDA cores and a boost clock of 1,815MHz.
As it’s quite obvious these cards don’t compare to each other, they have a significant number difference. This has allowed the RTX 2080 ti to show off, in front of AMD and other companies.
And it’s quite obvious they are both different with a huge price difference.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super is, without hesitation, a powerful piece of hardware.
With 3,072 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR6 clocked at 15.5 Gbps, it makes it part of the powerful graphics cards.
This can’t compare to the Nvidia RTX 2080 ti. The Nvidia RTX 2080 ti accelerates graphics to a whole new level.
Generally speaking, without 4K, the Nvidia GeForce RTX has a mean average of 174 fps, whereas the 2080 ti has a mean average of 184 fps.

But as soon as you are gaming in 4K, the fps drops considerably. The 2080 ti averages around 90 fps. Whereas, the RTX 2080 super, averages around 65 fps.
The RTX 2080 Ti is 39% per cent faster than the RTX 2080 Super, in terms of gaming benchmarks.
The 2080 ti increased memory capacity and memory bandwidth would make it a better option, for anyone who wants to game at 4K, do some 3D modelling, or any other GPU-intensive projects.
Now, both cards support ray – tracing. At the same time, the RTX 2080 Super has been designed to be a step into ray tracing, showing us its capabilities. At around 60-65fps, on 1440p.
This graphics card was never going to outrank the RTX 2080 Ti, when it comes to visual effects. Nvidia promises the RTX 2080 ti can ray trace in real-time.
With 48 cores dedicated to ray tracing, and the 2080 super only has 46. This graphics card adds more detail to the frames, and produces some incredible lighting effects, making everything look more realistic.
Like: shadows, enhanced texture, and more refined details.
Having seen the ray-traced the Star Wars Epic demo on a single GPU. where it once required a ton of graphics cards just a couple of years ago. This can now be done with one GPU.
As you can see in the image above the flow of the light is being directed and reflected on to the star wars mask.
When it comes to open-world games the percentage difference hovers around 5% in terms of Ray tracing, like GTA.
However, some games can stretch to a 10 percent increase with the 2080 ti. That’s a noticeable difference over the 2080 super.
DLSS is some true new technology that NVIDIA has dropped with the Turing GPU architecture.
NGX is a new deep learning-based technology stack that is inside of NVIDIA’s new RTX technology, found inside the GPU’s.
Unfortunately, this is only in the 2080 ti card.
This uses Turing Tensor Cores for deep learning-based operations that improve the images in games and can provide higher-performing tasks to users.
In most new games, the rendered frames aren’t displayed directly, they are pushed through multiple processing image enhancement that combines input from rendered frames, where visual enhancements are added, and aliasing hopefully stays in detail.
NVIDIA states that the image enhancement process is very hard to get right. But that will only improve after time.
Yes, this technology is truly magical.
So what should you buy?
The Nvidia RTX 2080 ti, isn’t cheap – and not many of us can afford it.
At the same time we don’t want to break the bank, but also want to make a powerful and effective gaming pc.
So it comes down to what you desire and affordability.
If you’re upgrading from any of the GTX series cards, but you don’t have the funds to go crazy for a £1000 RTX 2080 Ti, the RTX 2080 Super is as close as you’re going to get to true authentic gaming, respectively.
However, if you own one of the existing RTX series cards, and you’re looking to get into ray tracing, you might want to just keep waiting.
The RTX 2080 ti, is superseding the rest. It probably isn’t worth an upgrade if you’re already in Nvidia’s Ray-traced technology.
If you’re into creativity and 3D modelling then, this will help.
From what we can see, the 2080 ti is a lot more powerful. And offers so many advantages.
Either wait until Nvidia rolls out a more powerful card in the next couple of years, so this card drops in price.
Or if your pockets are that deep, then go for the 2080 ti, Ray tracing technology is cool!
Alternatively you could try out Google stadia which uses nvidia graphics cards customised for their servers, their service is getting better and its currently free.
